Her Nation apostate, the Priesthood corrupt – it is against this background that we find Hannah pouring out her heart before God. She had suffered the mocking and ridicule from her husband's other wife, but being the deeply spiritual woman that she was, she took the matter to God in prayer. Her experience teaches us that whatever our situation it is always right to pray about it!
She continued to worship, even though initially she did not receive the answer for which she prayed. She did not know how long she would have to wait, or when the answer would come, but she kept on praying. We too can learn that we should not allow the apparent lack of, or delay in our prayers being answered as reasons which prevent us coming to God in worship.
A good thing to remember is that God is not overwhelmed with our coming unto Him. He will hear us as we are. He does not await our eloquence in prayer, He bids us come, to lay our burdens before Him.
Never forget the lesson that Hannah learnt – namely, that the answer to her prayer came in God's time! How true it is, that His time is the wisest and the best.
Prayer is not always easy, in fact it has been said many times that there is nothing more difficult than praying. Do not though allow doubts, problems, or indeed imagined unanswered prayers to prevent you from praying. Cry out to God, and remember, that prayer is not just a therapy to make us feel better; instead believe that God can do great things, for He is able.
Use the answers to prayer for God's glory. The Lord answered Hannah's request. It was a wonderful answer to prayer. Do you not think that God has some wonderful answers to prayer for you and me as well?
