A nation in moral and spiritual decline; a corrupted priesthood, with worship degraded; a nation having no king, and people doing what was right in their own eyes. Such were the disturbing circumstances in which we see God answering the prayers of faithful and devout Hannah.
The importance of marriage according to the laws of God is here highlighted, as is the fact that as God's Word diminishes family life diminishes with it. Strong families lead to strong churches.
Hannah was a woman of faith, she believed in God despite many discouragements and the regular mocking of Elkanah's other wife Peninnah, who constantly ridiculed her for being barren.
Hannah showed her faith by her prayers, and from Hannah's example we can learn that people of faith are people of prayer. Some lessons we can learn from this account are these:
1: People who pray know that God is in control: He is in-charge, He is sovereign. 2: People who pray believe that God can influence events. 3: People of faith believe that god loves His people 4: Pray believing that God hears His people, in all circumstances.
Always believe, be like Hannah, and may God answer our prayers as He answered hers.
