Theme: Jesus is the greatest treasure and worthy of our worship! In vv. 1-2, we read of the wise men's search for the King of the Jews. They came to worship Him, because they knew that He is the greatest treasure. We need to remember that Jesus is the King of kings. In vv. 3-6, we read the account of the foolish men and see the troubled reaction of Herod and those in Jerusalem. The chief priests and scribes knew the Messiah was to be born in Bethlehem. In application, we can trust God's promises. In vv. 7-8, we see the foolish man's devious plan. Although Herod attempts to deceive the wise men, God knows all plans and hearts and thwarts Herod's evil plan. In vv. 9-12, the wise men's treasure is found. They knew Jesus Himself was the true treasure. We need to also properly value Jesus. Jesus is our greatest treasure; in Him we find our greatest joy!
