The apostle John was in great fear and despair. Seeing the scroll of the divine plan in the hand of God, no one in heaven or on earth was worthy to break the seals to open the scroll. Who will put into effect God's plan and promises? Who will accomplish His destiny for the world? Who will bring history to God's appointed conclusion? John contemplates a world without a Mediator between God and man. John wept loudly and felt how heartbreaking the thought of a world without Jesus Christ, the Savior. But … one of the elders said to John, "Weep no more; behold, the Lion of the tribe of Judah, the Root of David, has conquered, so that he can open the scroll and its seven seals." John writes, "And between the throne and the four living creatures and among the elders I saw a Lamb standing, as though it had been slain." How magnificent! John is told of a Lion, but upon looking he sees a Lamb! King Jesus has conquered by His perfect sacrifice!
