The well-known hymn, Take My Life and Let It Be, is a song about the Christian's voluntary consecration to the LORD. The opening words read, “Take my life and let it be, consecrated, LORD to Thee.” The song appeals to the LORD to Take our life . . . our hands . . . our voice . . . our silver and gold . . . our will and our love and use it as He wills. We are proclaiming to be dead to sin and alive to God, and are now yielding all we have - consecrated - wholly unto LORD. The term “consecrated” is used 38 times in the Old Testament and only twice in the New Testament. It means, “to separate oneself or an item to a sacred cause or purpose.” This message examines real New Testament consecration, and how to biblically yield our members to the LORD as instruments of righteousness.
