The conquering of the land as been a seven year time of one battle after another for the nation of Israel. The area the nation of Israel will now call their homeland is ready to be divided among the twelve tribes.
It will remain the responsibility of each individual tribe to fully drive out any remaining pockets of inhabitants of the land. Their failure to do so in their future will prove disasterous as they come under the influence of their idolatrous worship. Failure to obey God fully is never a minor issue and without consequences.
Judah will be the first tribe on to receive their inheritance on the west side of the Jordan. Joshua and Caleb will receive their special inheritance as promised for their faithfulness.
We are reminded again that God is faithful to His promises and His ways are always best making complete obedience a necessity for His people, down to today. We can choose to obey or disobey - but we cannot choose the consequences!
