First, Paul’s defense before the Sanhedrin is detailed (23.1-11). Here, Paul faces a provocation, manifests perception, and receives a promise from the Lord Jesus Himself. Second, Paul is endangered by a conspiracy fostered by the Sanhedrin (23.12-24). They are violently determined to kill Paul with assassins. But Paul’s nephew along with the Roman commander mount a vigilant defense of Paul. This gives way to Paul’s victorious deliverance from the assassins. This third major section records Paul’s preservation for ministry in Rome. Through it all, we find out that Paul is never alone during his ministry …just as you and I are never alone.
