After the Israelites accuse God of killing them in the desert by not providing water, now they still complain because now they do not have food. All the sudden, instead of the time in Egypt being suffering that caused them to cry out to God for deliverance, it was a time of pots full of meat and as much bread as they could eat. Unbelievers want to believe that the world is kinder than God. In response, God decided to test the Israelites to see if they will obey Him. The specific law that He decided to test them on was the Sabbath. On the sixth day, they were to gather twice what they gathered on other days. Moses and Aaron related to the people that they would see that the Lord had brought them out of Egypt because they would see His glory. In the evening that camp was filled with quail and in the morning the manna was as fine as frost on the ground. The Israelites said to one another, what is it? or in Hebrew, manna. In this passage, we see the mercy of God and the rebelliousness of the Israelites. They didn't want God as their master, they preferred Pharaoh. Are we satisfied with what God gives us or are we a covetous people like the Israelites were?
