All churches, families and nation have traditions. This is not a bad thing. Yet, when traditions become additions or subtractions from the Word of God, we are in danger. There is only one source of special revelation that has the authority to bind the consciences of human beings and to impose absolute obligation. It is the Word of God, and the Word of God alone. The temporary suspension of the practice of some our church traditions during the pandemic need not be a crisis, but an opportunity to move away from rote and ritual and worship God with our whole hearts, not just our lips. The heart of Christian worship is worship from the heart. "The hour is coming, and is now here, when the true worshipers will worship the Father in spirit and truth, for the Father is seeking such people to worship him."
