He disturbed Saul’s peace one day on the Damascus road when he was dead in trespasses and sin, going to persecute Christians. The Lord shook Saul into the realization he was lost. He was saved and became the earth’s greatest missionary outside of Jesus Christ Himself. Later he would write Philippians 4:7, “And the peace of God, which passeth all understanding, shall keep your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus.” Christians have a self contained peace within; that is Jesus in the heart!

Every real Bible preacher ought to disturb the peace of lost souls in his congregation. Those who are lost need to be shaken into the realization that they are lost and need the Saviour.

When Jesus was born in Bethlehem he disturbed many unbelievers. As a lad of twelve years old, Jesus went to the temple with Mary and Joseph. While there, he disturbed the professors of theology by knowing more than they. In the ministry, Jesus continually disturbed the unbelievers when he worked his miracles. He healed the sick, gave sight to the blind, lifted the lonely, gave hearing to the deaf, saved the lost, and raised the dead! What a disturbance he made!

Our human race hated the sweetest, loveliest, and only perfect one who ever lived. We nailed him to a cross and he died and arose again the third day to disturb this wicked human race again. He disturbed mankind again when he ascended into heaven.

He disturbs lost men today through the love letter he wrote us, the Bible. Some of us repent and accept Christ when he disturbs us. All could, but only a few do.
