Here is the very picture of pleasure; the sweetness of honey, the drippings of the honeycomb. God has given us good things in this life, He has made a world where sweetness exists! It is such a simple thing to say, but consider what it teaches us about the character of our God. Consider that He could have made good nourishment to be tasteless or even bitter. But He knows our needs, our wants, our very nature and He has created a world where He satisfies our longings and our needs with GOOD things. He has made us to live in, and to ENJOY this world that He has created for us.
But this is not the whole story. We are made for so much more than the mere physical. We are made for so much more than the passing pleasures of food, of fun, of the things that simply feed our flesh. Our souls need nourishment as well! And wisdom (which is the fear of the Lord) is as sweet to our souls as honey is to our lips. When we find that which feeds our soul, that which delights our spirit, that which reflects the deep and abiding GOODNESS of God, we ought always to take this counsel and feed upon that wisdom. It will always bless us to seek after real wisdom, and although the path may sometimes grow dark along the way, God will never allow those who trust in Him to be finally cut off. My beloved, feed deeply upon the wisdom of God, it is LIFE to you!!
