There are times when parched is the only word to describe the condition of our souls. There are so many things that wound us. We fall prey to the foe, we are attacked by false friends, we are abandoned on the field of battle by those who we trusted... the enemy lays traps for us; he leads us to things that will keep us from seeing God. We get too involved in our schemes, to concerned about our plans, too wrapped up in our stuff... we walk into the the desert with no water, and wonder why God allows us to become parched. Do not be deceived beloved, this world IS a desert for our souls. This life can NEVER satisfy that which is made for God alone... but the good news is that there IS a solution.
Remember the days of old, the faithful works of God. Meditate upon all of His mighty works. His faithfulness to you displayed in the past reveals His infinite heart of love. Ponder deeply, think upon all that He is and all that He has done; for His works declare His character to us... then, by His grace, stretch out your hands to Him. Seek God and you will be found by Him!! In every desert there is water deep underground. Streams of refreshing flow just under our feet. Let the mercy of God in the past be that which opens your heart and eyes to the providence of His mercy in the present. You WILL be refreshed!!
