This speaks the truth that we all hate to hear… that our ruin is our fault and no one else's. We are so quick to cry out, "It's not my fault!" " I didn’t mean it!" "You don’t understand!" and a thousand other excuses to try and worm our way out of the simple fact that we have been trapped by our own sinfulness. Our flesh, our desires, our wicked hearts lead us into places we don’t want to pay for. And to make matters worse, there is no shortage of signs along the path of ruin telling us exactly where the road we are on is leading us… we are indeed caught, trapped and bound for slaughter and we honestly have no one to blame but ourselves. We try to shift the blame, but in the end it is us, and only us that bears the responsibility. The question we need to ask ourselves is this: "How do I avoid the trap? How do I escape destruction?" The answer is simple. We need instruction in truth. We die for lack of instruction, we perish because we will not seek the truth of scripture and the path of God. There are, in the end, only 2 possible paths to take, one aims at God and honors His ways, the other aims at selfish pleasure, sinful indulgences and wicked desires. One path leads to life, the second path leads to death. When you set yourself at following the path of self and sin you can expect it to take you to a place you don’t want to be! But the good news is this; God offers a way out of the ditch you have been following, He offers us forgiveness in the blood of Jesus Christ, He promises that anyone who runs to Christ and cries for mercy will receive life! Oh my beloved! You do not have to remain on the path of your destruction. Just cry out to God for mercy and you will be set on the way to heaven, on the road of life. Cry for mercy, you will always find it!
