Solomon is teaching his son about the forbidden woman, but the principle is true for all of our temptations. It is the simple truth, if we ponder long enough on something strange, forbidden, out of bounds, it then becomes familiar, next it grows to be acceptable, finally desirable. The better course of action is to simply stay FAR away. This preserves our integrity, and more importantly, the purity of our heart and mind. However. this principle is constantly undermined in this culture of "looking won't hurt you". We are inundated with a mindset that separates us from all wisdom even while it declares itself to be the very embodyment of freedom. Professing itself to be wise. It became foolish... if we want to live, really LIVE, then we must begin by determining that the One who made all things is the only one who gets to decide what is good and what is bad; what we ought to do, and what we must avoid; to whom we should listen, and who we must ignore; who we should love, and who we should not... Any other standard will lead us into destruction, any other aim will only lead to our ruin. When God says avoid a thing, do not listen to oily voice and smooth lies of the culture that tell us that we need it, or worse, that we DESERVE it... instead turn around and flee. You must remove yourself fast and far from the way of temptation. Oh, dear child; if you want life, then you must pursue life rather than death. You must seek God and His ways; and do not linger around the door of your wicked desires... for when you linger, it WILL open and draw you in. Rather, seek the Father and obey His Word. He truly loves you, and will always do what is best for you. Trust your heart and your hopes to His perfect will and LIVE!!!
