(Hebrews 7:23-27) “And they truly were many priests, because they were not suffered to continue by reason of death: But this man, because he continueth ever, hath an unchangeable priesthood. Wherefore he is able also to save them to the uttermost that come unto God by him, seeing he ever liveth to make intercession for them. For such an high priest became us, who is holy, harmless, undefiled, separate from sinners, and made higher than the heavens; Who needeth not daily, as those high priests, to offer up sacrifice, first for his own sins, and then for the people's: for this he did once, when he offered up himself.”
There are no “Great men” of God! Only men, of a “great God”! Prophets, Priests and Kings of the old testament were just men. The Apostles, and ministers of the day such as Luke, Appollos, and even Paul, an Apostle out of due time were just men of a great God who used sinful people for His Glory. Today there are not great men of God either. We as Pastors and teachers are flawed human being just like those of the Old and New Testament. He also used an imperfect sacrifice to cover the sin of His people until the perfect was revealed. In these last days God has revealed Himself through His Son, (Heb.1:1-2). He was not a Great man of God nor just a man of a great God! He was the God-man. He was God in the flesh who came not only to proclaim the word of God but to reveal the Face God! Not only to become the Perfect High Priest but also the perfect Sacrifice! Not only to cover our sin, but to wash them away in His own Blood. The author of Eternal Salvation! This is why “it is impossible for those who were once enlightened, and have tasted of the heavenly gift, and were made partakers of the Holy Ghost, And have tasted the good word of God, and the powers of the world to come, If they shall fall away, to renew them again unto repentance.”(Heb. 6:4-5) The perfect Minister and the perfect Sacrifice bought and paid for something you cannot lose! And if you think you can, you put Him to shame. Eternal security is based on the finished work of God. Not the meritless works of man!
(2 Tim.1:12) “for I know whom I have believed, and am persuaded that he is able to keep that which I have committed unto him against that day.”
(Hebrews 12:2) “Looking unto Jesus the author and finisher of our faith; who for the joy that was set before him endured the cross, despising the shame, and is set down at the right hand of the throne of God.
