It is God who has appointed the hours and days of this nation. In the same manner as He has appointed the hours and days of every nation which has gone before us. In the life of every nation there are times when God moves in mercy, placing good men in authority, men who will lead others to follow after God. And there come times when God moves in judgement, setting evil men and wicked women in power who will call evil good and good evil and will lead a people to search after other gods instead of seeking the One True God, the maker of heaven and earth. Men and women who will teach that the sacrifice of babies is not only permitted, but to be desired. Men and women who will give support to the vilest of sexual perversions, and who will lash out against anyone who dares to speak against them. It was true of Rome, a nation at its height when these words were written, but a nation that honored only what it wanted instead of truth. A nation so set upon being all things that it would not be the one thing which would have secured its place; it would not be righteous. It was true of Israel, following Ahab and his evil wife Jezebel, choosing to obey the bloody dictates of tyrants who would not bend the knee to the Almighty God... it has been true of every power that ever set itself to go its own way despite the clear instruction of God. God appoints leaders to bless, and He appoints leaders to chasten... oh beloved, today is the day which has been given to us, to seek the face of God, to cry out for mercy, to turn from our sin and to listen to the voice of our God, for He has not left us to our own resources. He has instead reached out to us with His Word, and with His Son... do not ignore this moment, it is the only one which we are promised. Every nation comes to its end, let us turn from the path of destruction before we come to ours!!
