This is so difficult for us to do. We would much rather bicker, fuss, fight and feud than live in peace. There are are several things that we must consider about our penchant for conflict. First, the problem with most of our fights is that they are about us. They are about our wounded pride, our imagined desserts, our thwarted desires... they are seldom about anything real, true or precious. We do most of our fighting over trivial matters that are not even worth thinking about, let alone fighting over. Secondly, we tend to go about our fighting in the most ungodly manner possible... we use every foul, dishonest and evil method at our disposal because we are so sure that our RIGHTNESS is all that matters. That the end justifies the means as long as we get what we want in the end... this is absolutely wrong and contrary to what scripture commands. Third, we seldom even consider those around us and the impact our crusades have on the rest of our families and friends. We plow ahead, sure that nothing matters except our wants, our passions, our desires. Beloved, it is far better that we start by stopping. Cease the constant roaring, the endless sniping, the eternal bickering... begin with checking our own sin, with repenting from the evil WE are committing, with careful consideration of God's Word; then, IF some conflict is necessary, proceed with grace and mercy, with fear and trembling lest your own sin become involved... strive for truth rather than gain, and leave room for God's vengeance, which will surely come against all evil!
