In the midst of all the chaos of these days, with fear and avarice struggling at equal portions in the hearts of men, it is all the more important that we take this exhortation, this command seriously; that we be dead earnest about intercession for those in authority over us. It matters not how you feel about them, about their policy, preferences or politics... the command is really a promise to us. Do you want to live quiet and peaceable lives? Then pray for them!! Pray that God would guide their decisions, that He would turn them to Himself, that His Word be referenced and obeyed, but pray earnestly, pray constantly, pray without ceasing. And while we are at it, let us pray the same things for ourselves... Policy will not heal this land, medicine is not the savior of its people. No amount of distance or bleach can keep us safe. Only God and His mercy is our sure and certain hope. Oh precious child! Pray that God would warm us to this truth, that the awakening our nation needs would (as history shows is the pattern) begin in the church with genuine revival. And the key to THAT is God's people, on their faces, seeking His face in repentance. Let us pray that it would be so with us! And then let us watch as God heals our land!!!
