How many gods in Witness thinking?
Isaiah 43:10-13, 44:6-8, 45:5. “…before Me no God was formed… after Me there has been none…is there any God but Me? No there is no other Rock. I know of none.” Coupled with John 1:1, NWT Q. Questioner. JWA=Jehovah's Witness Answer. CA= Christian Answer
Q. How many Gods are there?
JWA. One and only one! Praise Him!
Q. Another point of agreement between us. So far. So Who is Jesus? Is He not God?
JWA. John 1:1 points out that He is a god , but not the Almighty God.
Q. Let me start over. How many Gods are there?
JWA. One.
CA: But did he not just say that Jesus is a god ? I don’t agree with the changing of John 1:1, but if it is as he says, then there is the Almighty God, plus the god Jesus. One God plus one god = two gods. But the text here is clear. There is no God except Jehovah. No god has been “created” or “formed” by the original God. That means Jesus must be God, according to all the other translations of John 1:1, “…and the Word WAS God.”
And what of this “Rock”! God says He is the only Rock also. But Paul says that the spiritual “Rock” that followed the Israelites was none other than Jesus Christ. Two Rocks? Not necessary. Let’s say that Jehovah God and Jesus God are the same God in two persons. As the Church has been saying for many centuries.
