It is always a joy to know that some of our friends who lived until recently and passed away, were born again believers. Their destination was better than any thing this world had to offer. Oh yes, we miss them, but they are better off than we are, because for a christian,to be absent from this body is to be present with the Lord.

Those who died yesterday and were lost, might have gained the world, but does it really matter now? They did not get to keep it very long. For those who died yesterday, it doesn’t matter now how rich or successful they were, nor whether they lived in a castle, a cottage, or a pup-tent. Does it matter that they abode in a wigwam, a mud abode, a thatched roof shack, or a fine hotel? Their new home is horrible.

For the one who dies without Christ, does it matter now that he paddled in a canoe or owned a yacht? Does it matter now that he owned many slaves, cattle and livestock, and enjoyed name, fame, power and prestige? It doesn’t matter about all these things, if he misses Heaven. God said in Mark 8:36, “For what shall it profit a man, if he shall gain the whole world, and lose his own soul?”
