Good Sermon Good points presented here. Perhaps the reason for the failing of some to live for the glory of God is due to the lack of a true work of grace. Yet, of late, even the genuine have corrupted into empty shells of a church form, which in the end even the world dares to classify as 'non essential' due to having lost our 'salt'.
Externally, we have discharged and transfered gladly all works of charity, love, duty and social responsibility to the state who can decide how far our existence should be.
Internally, we had played the harlot, adulterating with the world so much that often the average evangelical is no longer capable of discerning right from wrong without prevaricating into disclaimers, rabbit trails, pretexts or the convenient excuse of 'legalism'. But may our present circumstances remind us that "... (his) fan is in his hand, and he will throughly *purge* his floor ..." |

Vital discussion and useful conclusions Average Western Evangelicals need to repent for having worshipped the media, - cartons and entertainment included, for the last 70 years.
All news channels feed from the same doctored 'authorised' top media source, so there is no escaping the monopoly. There is virtually no autonomous news source. Alternatives do not exist. Be aware also about how news are *selected*. E. G. Evangelical happenings do not make it to the front pages except for scorn.
Hence the same range of topics, bias agendas and mantras, are perpetuated by all agencies, which when followed and believed manipulate all. Surely he that holds the monopoly of information controls the masses, a principle known among communists and tyrans. Pastors have lost the actual plot, as instead of advicing on media fasting, they are glued to news bulletins and media platforms more that ever to comply. It is established that any living by the media will eventually die by the media. The adulterous friendship with politics need to be broken, as how can two walk together with different goals? A fallacy. Finally, not any kind of random prayer is needed, but unidirectional prayer, rebuking Satan and pleading for his grip to be losen from this world-wide hour, while he and his powers are put to flee by the Almighty. |

Every word of God is pure: he is a shield unto them that *put their trust* in him.*** For both he that sanctifieth and they who are sanctified are all of one: for which cause he is not ashamed to call them brethren, Saying, I will declare thy name unto my brethren, in the midst of the church will I sing praise unto thee. And again, I will *put my trust* in him. And again, Behold I and the children which God hath given me. *** Hebrew 'khä·sä' and Greek 'pa'-tho' are both used for trust, or to rely or place trust in an object, say to confide or flee for assurance or protection. |

Unprofitable Servant wrote: ... If I say a person needs to receive Christ, there is no need to jump to the conclusion that I am implying some man made ability, it is the language of John 1:12 and Colossians 2:6, same goes for trusting Christ. Thanks for the appropriate challenge here.Biblically, say taking in the whole of scriptural teaching, 'receive' speaks of personal appropriation of Christ's atoning merit, while 'trust' is the reliance on that merit, and all because of the doings of the Spirit of truth in the individual *revealing* Christ to the soul. Both terms are simple lingo which represent and/or summarize deep theological concepts. That such terms have been oversimplified, misused, or mangled in certain lengths of evangelical thought, there is no doubt, but they are also abused by hyper calvinist rationale. *** "the Spirit of truth, which proceeds from the Father, he shall testify of me" "when he, the Spirit of truth, is come, he will guide you into all truth" "no man knows who the Son is, but the Father; and who the Father is, but the Son, and he to whom the Son will reveal him." "it pleased God, who separated me from my mother's womb, and called me by his grace, To *reveal* his Son in me" |

cv wrote: "Hyper-calvinism" is a nonsense debating term. It does not exist! Nobody I know says, we cant give the gospel to the non elect. Or, why preach at all if God will save his elect? We go because we are called to. And we are called to obedience. Had you been in this forum three years ago you would had been surprised to find notions of that ilk indirectly or directly upheld |
