CV wrote: God bless And I’ll pray for you and your family. Just as an aside, I am more a quite reserved person. It’s quite something to worship with the happy clappys. I had some reservation about current their music. But I remember listening to Amy Grant, Keith Green, Twila Paris, Margaret Becker, Stephen Curtis Chapman, 2nd Capter of Acts...(overdoing the point here?) Even Amazing Grace, while based on the bible is not a chapter of Hezekiah. Just like Dallas Homes Rise Again, Hillsongs music may be doing the same thing. The only question for me is, will I remain sensitive to discern truth from error. And am I faithful to God and lending credibility to where he wants me to. Blessing If it were me, I would have never crossed their threshold. However, God may want you there for a reason. I suggest though a warning. Don't sacrifice the souls of you and your family just to be in a church. It's not worth it. Once the damage is done, it's there for good. We'll offer prayer for you and your family. Perhaps shoot me a PM and we can talk further and we can share names etc. Have a blessed day, it's off to bed for me. |

CV wrote: Watcher I know you were looking for a church, Did you find one? I missed, on the first pass through what was wrong with Pastor Brian’s comments you posted. Is it the homosexual marriage issue? Australia just passed into law allowing it. Hillsong is a Pentecostal/ Arminianist church. I am not! Most contemporary churches are arminianists. In my visits at Hillsong, I did not witness anyone speaking in tongues. While it’s not a perfect church, it is a church that exists to worship and exalt God. Watcher, I have trully been blessed to be at Hillsong to worship with fellow believers. No I have not found a church for my family. It's sad. My only problem with Houston's response was it was very polished and safe. That scares me. Just be careful is all. Leaven can creep in unawares and you can be deceived without knowing it. I pray you exist to glorify God even if it means standing against leadership if you see something amiss. |

CV wrote: Very hard to find a church that holds to true biblical teaching. I have settled in with Hillsong in Australia.... From Brian Houston: "I believe every person is created by God with a plan and purpose, and the focus of Hillsong Church has always been – and will always be – to point people to Jesus. My personal belief in the Bible’s teachings on marriage will not change, and the work of our church will continue as usual as it does in many parts of the world where same sex marriage is legal. It is vital however, that legislation protects the rights of churches, pastors and others to hold beliefs based on the traditional teachings of scripture. Freedom of religion is a fundamental part of a democratic society and must be upheld. Any attempt to force Christians to compromise their faith would be wrong. As we move forward as a nation and put what has been at times a divisive debate behind us, my prayer is that we replace anger, criticism, hatred and intolerance with love, understanding, acceptance and kindness. Jesus taught us that holding firm to our convictions, and respecting and appreciating other people who hold different views, are not mutually exclusive."Not exactly standing up for truth. More like trying to smooth things over. |

Yeparoo...and always keep an open mind, except for those things that are crystal clear in God's Word, of course. A closed mind can be a dangerous thing, and there are way too many on planet Earth. If God's word is dogmatic on a subject, then so should we. If it boils down to secondary issues, then there's no need to be dogmatic. If it's regarding salvation, God's sovereignty, etc., then stand your ground. Does the earth being flat or shaped like a possum affect our salvation one iota? No. But it's nice to know things. |

Frank wrote: Very good comment brother. I have often wondered the same thing about these female gymnasts. Their butts are hanging out. What Christian does that? Yeah really. Flaunting yourself like that, arching and carrying on in such a manner then you get violated. Honestly what do they expect? I do not condone sexual behavior like this in any form, but kick a hornet's nest, and guess what will happen? |

We are not fundamentalists because we believe something but because we agree with the definition of a fundamentalist. Most say today they are Christian, not because God saved them but because they can say yes, to a list of convictions. JohnY...are you listening? |

The Quiet Christian wrote: I agree with your perspective as well, but if they suffer, we suffer with them. I can't just be the spectator calling out "give all for Christ, including your lives!" without asking the Lord to protect them as I ask Him to protect my family, you guys, and me. But hopefully the blood of these martyrs will be seed and water of new faith in Christ of their attackers. Absolutely. But let us always remember that in that protection, sometimes God protects us by ending our lives and delivering us from our attackers. We are called to pour out our lives for the cause of the Gospel. Not for comfort and protection from persecution. I know you didn't actually say this, but I say this for the benefit of those who don't understand their true place in Christ. |

Christopher000 wrote: The problem I've seen with people in general, is that they either believe everything they're told, or they believe nothing, and get sucked, full on into conspiracies and seeing shadows around every corner. I was just told about someone's brother over the holiday weekend who is so addicted to all the conspiracy sites, that it's almost driving him crazy with paranoia. There doesn't seem to be a reasonable middle ground with most. Problem is that many conspiracy sites are extremely convincing, and complete with video, photographic, and mathmatical, etc., "evidence". I think for many, this planet and our existence is too boring, so these things add an exciting angle to the otherwise, mundane. Yep. Mysteries are interesting. You can get caught up in all sorts of rabbit trails and in doing so it steals away your peace and distracts you from the Gospel. I want to learn. I have always been a student and I take nothing for granted. Read, ask questions...learn. BUT, don't let these things become your god. |

H. Von Bun wrote: Thank you. I know the name, I don't remember why I passed by him. I'll look into it sometime. One more thing and I'm done. I think really the best thing they have going for them is that people don't question much of anything they are told. Most seem to blindly trust the system. Go down the line with that one: Vaccines Government Medications Foods The Internet etc...we all see the things in our lives as good. Even when we come across something that could be nefarious, we always think, "that doesn't concern me..."Everything concerns everyone. If you breath, it concerns you. The whole gamut of evolution and the battle to turn society away from God has been going on for thousands of years. The devil has had much practice in getting it right. I read a quote from someone once, and it was regarding Hitlers tirade across the world. The Third Reich was nothing more than a dress rehearsal. That's scary. Always be suspicious and alert. The enemy crouches at the door looking for his prey. |

The Quiet Christian wrote: O Lord, Your people cry out for Your protection. Be with them in this hour of crisis. Lead them to be witnesses and sowers of the Gospel. And may those attacking them have their hearts softened by You and lead them to follow Christ instead, bringing peace. In Jesus' name, Amen. The point is God IS with them. This is what we as Christians must expect. Instead of always looking for the easy, safe way, let's glorify God that many have gone home to Him and brought Him glory through their testimony and martyrdom. |
