Hey, Mike, serve me up a cup, please!

Oh yes, I support these tea parties at the table and in the political arena.

No, but I did have a cup of tea recently. Does that count?

Who's got the time.

Seriously, the truely virtuous and productive members of any society ought to be far too busy to do much if any protesting. Let the many miscreants on the political left do that.

Don't get me wrong. I do appreciate the efforts of those involved in these tea parties. I just don't think it's a very practical way for "our side" to proceed in its efforts to change things.

"Of all the dispositions and habits which lead to political prosperity, religion and morality are indispensable supports. In vain would that man claim the tribute of patriotism, who should labor to subvert these great pillars of human happiness, these firmest props of the duties of men and citizens. The mere politician, equally with the pious man, ought to respect and to cherish them. A volume could not trace all their connections with private and public felicity. Let it simply be asked: Where is the security for property, for reputation, for life, if the sense of religious obligation desert the oaths which are the instruments of investigation in courts of justice? And let us with caution indulge the supposition that morality can be maintained without religion. Whatever may be conceded to the influence of refined education on minds of peculiar structure, reason and experience both forbid us to expect that national morality can prevail in exclusion of religious principle.

It is substantially true that virtue or morality is a necessary spring of popular government. The rule, indeed, extends with more or less force to every species of free government. Who that is a sincere friend to it can look with indifference upon attempts to shake the foundation of the fabric?"

Geo Wash.

We (in our area) had several TEA parties. I went to the one in Endicott.

Wow! What a wide cross section of humanity. Christians, Catholics (non-Christians), Atheists, young, old, veterans, unemployeed (due to layoffs).

There is supposed to be another round of TEA parties on July 4th. Hopefully, God willing, I will have some appropriate Christian tracts or articles to pass out if I am able to make it____that was the one thing I notices was absent in the local TEA party. Christ and the problem of sin that has brought use to this wasn't mentioned. And to address this appropriately (as well as in the rest of society) will require much wisdom and prehaps a whole lot of courage too for Christians.

I've never done anything like this before. I am not much of a political activist, although having participated in this event, I might now be labeled a "Right Wing Extremist." It was a very peaceful demonstration and there was nothing done which would have offended either family or children. As a matter of fact, there were many children present and many elderly people as well. I'd say, if anyone was offended it might have been those who would like to give "Obama's Socialist Change" a chance.

My wife, daughter (26), and I went this afternoon (4-25-09), having made signs the night before. There were about 150 people involved, possibly because I don't think conservatives are too used to protesting and our town is not very large. Most people driving by as we lined up along the edge of the road were very supportive, honking horns, giving us the thumbs up sign, and waving; thankfully, no foul gestures were made. About the worst we had on the negative side was a few ugly scowls from a few of the people driving by; who knows, that may have been the way they look naturally.

Personally, if for no other reason, I think it was good to participate to let people know that we do care that our country is going "the wrong direction."

May God mercifully turn us back to the right path.
