Which writer of what gospel or epistle was Catholic? The Roman Church did not exist until approx 315 AD. Many churches had been established prior to that by the apostles. The books of the Bible were written prior to that time as well. Simply collating the books of the Bible does not equate with bringing the Scripture into existence.

God breathed the Bible via the Holy Spirit through the pens of the apostles. The individual books of the Bible were circulating a couple of centuries prior to the establishment of the Roman Church by Constantine.

God gave us His Word. He may have used the Roman Church to collate the books, but He did not need the Roman Church, any more than He needs you or I, to advance His Plan.

That is the problem with the RCC hierarchy. They want to claim God's work as their own!

Thanks Discerned Believer. I agree with the points on both of your entries.

(Rom 10:9-10)That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved. For with the heart man believeth unto righteousness; and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation.

The scriptures talk about us placing our trust in the Lord Jesus alone. He is our only hope for salvation, as we can never stand righteous before God without His perfect work of reconciliation. Our works are as filthy rags in the sight of God (Isaiah 64:6) and are unable to save us from the fiery condemnation prepared for Satan, who knows who God is but will never confess Him as His Lord.

Let us be careful not to use these verses to imply that the verbal confession secures a person’s salvation. It is the Holy Spirit that works in the heart of the sinner and aids them to repent and trust in the finish work of Christ!! God does the work!!

Eph 2:8-9 For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God. Not of works, lest any man should boast.

Reject the religious system that teaches men to rely on piety and works for salvation! In Christ alone we place our confidence and trust!

"Know ye not that the unrighteous shall not inherit the kingdom of God? Be not deceived: neither fornicators, *** nor idolaters, *** nor adulterers, nor effeminate, nor abusers of themselves with mankind,

(Rev. 21:8)
"But the fearful, and unbelieving, and the abominable, and murderers, and whoremongers, and sorcerers, *** and idolaters, *** and all liars, shall have their part in the lake which burneth with fire and brimstone: which is the second death."

Any worship of any other than God is idolatry, whether it be of venerated saints, statues or the Virgin Mary constitutes idolatry. That fact that the RCC venerates Mary as co-mediatrix is putting her on the same plane as Jesus Christ, thus making her God.

Thanks Walt.

We often forget that it is the ministry of the Holy Spirit to transform us into the image of Christ. He works from the inside out to produce the fruits of the spirit that brings about good works. In order for Him to work from inside us, He needs to be in us to begin with. That is only accomplished by the New birth at which the Holy Spirit indwells every believer.

The faith which justifies is never alone.

Sean C, I do not know of a single Pentecostal protestant church which says you must speak in tongues to earn salvation, and I've studied the Pentecostal movement quite extensively.

If you isolate that part of the verse.

Taken in the full context, we read:

(Phil. 2:12-13)
12. Wherefore, my beloved, as ye have always obeyed, not as in my presence only, but now much more in my absence, work out your own salvation with fear and trembling. (Notice the clincher) ****13. For it is God which worketh in you both to will and to do of his good pleasure.****

God granted salvation in you by His free grace, based soley on the merits of the righteousness of Jesus Christ and his substitutionary death on the cross.

We are to work out from the inside what God has already placed in you.

You can't earn salvation by your good works or deeds. Good works and deeds are the result of true salvation, not the rewards for salvation.

llustration. Do you work out your frustrations to become frustrated. Or is that frustration already present within you and you need to work it out.

You will act out what is in you.

For any of you who believe in faith alone, you really need to read your bible. The fact is working out your salvation and the real loss of salvation are mentioned in the new testament over 50 times. Satan and his deamons believe in Jesus, does that mean they are saved as well.

How about when Paul mentions work out your salvation with fear and trembling.
That doesn't sound like faith alone.

You must look at the fact that the protestant religion is based on something that doesn't exist. You say bible alone, but as soon as you say that you contradict yourself as "Bible Alone" isn't written in scripture. Therefore by believing in Bible alone, you believe in something not written in the bible.

The very bible you read wouldn't exist if it wasn't for the catholic church,who put it together.

There are over 32,000 different protestant demonations, each believing that they are right in their translation of the bible. For example one group believes that speaking in tongues is from the devil and that person is sure to go to hell. Another group believes that you cannot enter heaven without the gifts of tongues. The only thing protestants agree on is the fact that they are not catholic.

Dear John Yurich (I assume that this is really your name),

My sincere prayer for you now is that the Lord give you the courage and boldness to take the difficult step to leave the Catholic system since you are already 'anathema' in their eyes.

For them, you are a 'wolf in sheep clothings' and you are not invited to step into their stained glass buildings. If your priest knew that you held on to these beliefs, you would have been proclaimed a heretic!!

I trust that the Lord will in His time give you a bold conviction to finally proclaim the truth in your Roman Catholic Church and face the excommunication that other martyrs in the past received. The Lord watch, guide and protect you as you struggle internally to please Him. It is commendable that you have refuted many of their false doctrine... now the only thing left is to leave the system, just like John Calvin and Martin Luther did!!

You are already in a state of PROTEST. I urge you to go further for the glory of God.

PS: Try sticking to one name.. it's quite confusing really when you switch nicks.

The answers to the questions are1)No I do not believe that the Pope is the Vicar of Christ,(2)No I do not go to Individual Confession but instead go to Communal Reconciliation Service(Where everybody confesses their sins directly to Christ) twice a year during Lent and during Advent. I also every night when I go to bed confess any sins that I may have committed during the day directly to Christ.,(3)No I do not worship the Virgin Mary and I do not believe in the Immaculate Conception of the Virgin Mary,(4)I beleve that Christ does not like the illogical and unscriptural RCC doctrines. I also believe that Christ is ok with the logical and scriptural RCC doctrines because there are some logical and scriptural RCC doctrines.,(5)No because if someone who has received Christ as their Savior then they would dispense with the illogical and unscriptural doctrines and adhere only to the logical and scriptural doctrines and thus they would not be clinging to darkness since they have dispensed with the dark doctrines.

Since I have dispensed with the illogical and unscriptural RCC doctrines and the illogical and unscriptural parts to the Mass then I have rejected falsehood.

Has it occurred to anyone else that Satan can use a question like this to drive wedges into the body of Christ?
I'm a protestant and I'm not that into ecumenical movements but Christ did pray for unity among his followers. And I'm also sure that many Catholics and even Catholic popes will be in heaven. But which of us really knows? It's awfully dangerous and clearly not edifying to judge the salvation of another who confesses Christ. Every believer in church history has had his or her blindspots. And I believe there are a large number of reformation heroes who might look at American Protestantism today and expect most of us to perish...

John Yurich, George Karakash, Joseph Timora, Anonymous II, and all your past and future names,

I beg to correct your misconstrued ideas on my stands. I've never condemned liturgical worship in any sense before and certainly am not talking about the way meetings are conducted. That to me is really another side issue.

If all your proclamations of being a truly saved believer are genuine. I assume that you have sincerely rested on Jesus Christ alone as your ONLY source of salvation, and you are by no means NOT my brother in the Lord.

However, if you claim to be saved and yet stay in this obviously pagan and evil institution of Roman Catholicism, it brings serious questions to your claim of true repentance in Christ alone.

Answer these few questions with a 'yes' or 'no':

1) Do you believe the Pope is the Vicar of Christ?
2) Do you still go to human priests for confession and seek forgiveness?
3) Do you worship Mary and believe in the her Immaculate Conception?
4) Do you believe that God despises the lies and sins of the Vatican?
5) Is it possible that those supposedly in the light still love to cling to the darkness?

Please believe that I'm not trying to condemn you but aim to stir your mind to reexamine your salvation in Christ and reject falsehood.

I don't expect to see any popes in heaven. The human population of heaven is made up of sinners saved by the grace of God.

What is wrong with trying out different monikers? Eventually I plan to go back to using the John Yurich moniker. And I do not suffer from spiritual myopia. I am just thinking logically and logic dictates that only Christ can know for certain who has received Him as their Savior and who has not.

How do you know for certain that there have not been any deceased Popes who received Christ as their Savior before passing away? Only Christ knows if there have been any deceased Popes who received Christ as their Savior before passing away. Nobody but Christ is omniscient. But obviously you and the other Protestants on here think that you guys are omniscient to claim to know for certain that there have not been any deceased Popes who received Christ as their Savior before passin away.

CONT. whole time just because you guys think that non liturgical worship services are the only acceptable form of worship? Who says that non liturgical worship services are the only acceptable form of worship? Just because liturgical worship service is not mentioned in the Book of Acts does not mean that it is not an acceptable form of worship. If an RC only participates in the logical and scriptural parts to the Mass then they are worshipping in spirit and truth since the logical and scriptural parts to the Mass are scriptural and thus the logical and scriptural parts to the Mass are acceptable to Christ. The illogical and unscriptural parts to the Mass are not acceptable to Christ.
