"Maybe it was Mary’s prayers that got him there. Maybe he was simply good enough to get in on his own works. One older lady the local news interviewed said, “I hope the Lord takes Him.” (Maybe she was not as “Roman Catholic” as she thought.) Roman Catholics believe the Pope went straight to heaven.

Another interviewee said, “I’m completely sure he was a saint.” The news called him the “Pope of the People.” All over the world hundreds of thousands (millions) mourned over his death.

God’s servant, the Vicar of Christ on earth, the one who ministered on behalf of millions of Roman Catholics before the holy Mother Mary, oh yes, and her son Jesus too, went straight to heaven.

Yes, he went to heaven, at least according to Roman Catholics, and of course, the six o’clock news. He’s in a better place now.

The angels are welcoming him, and presidents, kings, rabbis, church ministers, and others, are all hailing him as a “great man” in his passing. God took him home.

Jessica,

I thought this article might help you with some balanced ministerial observations:

"Proverbs 17:15, “He who justifies the wicked, and he who condemns the just, both of them alike are an abomination to the LORD.”

In a long line of industrious Roman Catholic figures throughout church history, Pope John Paul II died Saturday, April 2, 2005. He died as a result from complications related to Parkinson's disease at the age of 84.

According to Rome, John Paul II reigned as the third-longest of any pope, behind St. Peter (A.D. 30-64 or 67), who served 34 or 37 years, and Pius IX (1846-1878), who served 31 years and seven months.

All over the Internet, and among the hundreds of magazines, newspapers, cable, radio, and satellite news stations around the world, his death is wrought in the midst of an emotional upheaval. People weep and believe he went to heaven because he was such a good “holy father” and in his “suffering” God “took him home.”

For Roman Catholics, the supererogatory merits of bygone saints and his own merits ushered him into the eternal bliss of heaven, avoiding the refining fires of a million or so years in purgatory.

Rand,

I am a bit puzzled by the testimony that you put into the Larry King/Olsteen interview. It probably is something I would not have done without a much more open explanation that your comments were not taken live.

I just read the comments below, and will admit to being a bit embarrassed over thinking it was a live dialogue as reported on your site.

I'll need a bit more time to digest the Scriptural basis for providing such a document without proper and clear disclosure to the readers. If there is disclosure, I obviously overlooked it and again feel a bit embarrassed.

For the cause of Christ,
Walt.

An excerpt from Pope John Paul's last will and testament. Thanks to the person on the other thread for the link:

"To everyone I ask forgiveness. I also ask prayers, so that the Mercy of God will loom greater than my weakness and unworthiness"

http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/7418582

Pope John Paul did not seem by his words, to think that he was infallible. He seems rather to have seen himself as rather a pathetic creature in need of God's mercy. Though he was too strongly Marion, he did ask for everyone's forgiveness. Perhaps we should not fret of what he was or wasn't? Perhaps we should trust him and his soul unto God's hands. Perhaps we should forgive him and leave the rest unto God.

If we forgive men their trespasses, our Heavenly Father will forgive our trespasses. If we do not forgive men their trespasses neither will our Heavenly Father forgive our trespasses.

Keith wrote:, "I believe the word of the living God deems you a hypocrite, Mr. Peterson."

I well remember Dr. Ron Cottle's definition of 'hypocrite,': "an actor under an assumed identity."

It is one thing to admit one's lack of understanding in certain doctrines, as well as prophecy. This, however, is not the case with Rev. Charles. Now that he has been to Bible college, he has discovered there are many mysterious passages in God's Word that elude him. Because he is the measure of what can and cannot be discerned in God's Word, he has 'piously' decreed that no other man can ascertain to knowledge of the Revelation. To do so is folly and conceit, he pontificates.

Tragically, it has not occurred to him that his ignorance is not our ignorance, nor is it the ignorance of Christians before or after the Reformation.

His ignorance is self-inflicted, for the information contained on our websites clearly declare that which has been known and believed for centuries by the greatest Christians ever to have graced this planet.

We can only pray that Rev. Charles would stop "playing the part" and begin living the part.

May our Lord exchange Charles' haughty spirit for a humble one, giving him humility, that he would admit he knows not of what he speaks.

Yvonne wrote, "I don't believe Rand Winburn was trying to deceive anyone."

You are a true genius, Yvonne. In fact, you put Rev. Charles to shame with such astute, mature discernment.

The deceiver was Joel Osteen, who is a wolf in sheep's clothing, leading millions of deluded astray. The Charismatic Arminians would have preferred I kept my theology to myself. Satan would have preferred I kept silent. So, too, would Rev. Charles have preferred I remain silent.

By placing myself in the midst of the inane and shameful dialogue, I was able to give witness to Reformation theology, which is sound, biblical, and orthodox.

Those who dislike the message would prefer the messenger take his wares elsewhere.......out of the public eye and out of all controversy.

Had Christ and the Apostles followed the directive of the modern-day Judas/Christians, they would have avoided persecution and murder.

True Christianity is controversial; hated both by the world and counterfeit Christians.

Charles wrote: "Rand, I am not sure where you missed my point, but I have read and heard the testimony of the reformers."

I disagree. Your apologetics proves you have no idea what who the Protestant Reformers were and what they believed. Though you may mimic some of their doctrines, the lack of understanding you have exhibited in your responses is quite evident. Your true colors show through what is a transparent veneer.

Walt wrote: "I don't know how long you have been on this site, but it is full of Arminians."

I don't doubt it, Walt, as that poison is one of the most popular in false Christianity today.

Walt writes, "the Arminians are really going to be ticked over your testimony to Olsteen."

Amen, brother. You wouldn't believe the hate mail we've received written by professing Christians who claim God loves everyone. In their Arminian minds, iconbusters is not included in God's all-encompassing love!

rand was not missing many of my comments, that is easy to see. So I am sure he read the one I referred to osteen and larry king, surely one would back up to the comment right before that to see how osteen got into it knowing he had an article on his site, I find it very difficult to believe he didn't see it. But, God knows.....

CK,

Rand did respond to Walt the next day.
How do you know that he did not read Walt's comment until today?
As you can see from Rand's post he did set the record straight.

Amen JD and Mike! No matter what theological persuasion you happen to be, the claim to be infallible in your understanding concerning the mysteries of God you are sadly Decieved!

We may very well possess this treasure of God but it is still in wads of clay and the clay don't understand the potter fully until he is complete, he just allows himself (he really has no say in the matter to tell you the truth) to be molded to the image of the potter's desire. The clay never stands up and proclaims himself 'done' in need of no more turning or baking, curing etc.....no, no, he shuts up sits down and submits himself to the master Potter who worketh all things to His Glory! For this is the will of God that all of Creation Proclaim his Glory which he will share with no man pope or otherwise!

I don't believe Rand Winburn was trying to deceive anyone.
I found this posting by Rand dated July 6/05 at the website below.

"My latest article places me in the Joel Osteen-Larry King Interview. I answer questions Osteen avoids. I also contradict Osteen when he lies. Larry and Joel's words remain intact."

So Mr Osteen is a pretender. So Mr Winburn is a pretender. Reminds me of
Rick Warren, who also doesn't see the blatant error in the 'means are justified by the ends' philosophy. Can it be assumed the lack of rebuke from those of similar doctrine is due to the idea that 'it's ok, he's one of us'?

Everyone, past or present, from the least to the greatest, that have proclaimed the Pope of Rome to be the man of sin have perpetrated a grevious error and have exhibited a total lack of understanding.

Dan 11:6 And the king shall do according to his will; and he shall exalt himself, and magnify himself above every god, and shall speak marvellous things against the God of gods, and shall prosper till the indignation (Another word for tribulation) be accomplished: for that that is determined shall be done.
37 Neither shall he regard the God of his fathers, nor the desire of women (the desire of women is the Messiah), nor regard any god: for he shall magnify himself above all.

This passage is speaking of the same particular individual as Daniel, a king and not a Pope.

2 Th 2:3 Let no man deceive you by any means: for that day shall not come, except there come a falling away first, and that man of sin be revealed, the son of perdition; 4 Who opposeth and exalteth himself above all that is called God, or that is worshipped; so that he as God sitteth in the temple of God, shewing himself that he is God.

If the revelation of the man of sin is contemporaneous with the reformation, what does that tell us about the falling away? Hmnn!!!

It isn't though!

Well, see how the deceptive work their magic? Quite dishonest to say the least. And I didn't even have to point it out even though I was familiar with the testimony of Osteen and his failure to reprove and rebuke and testify of the true gospel on national tv but he chose not to! What a shame, on him and on you mr dortzler!

Mr. Rand
The problem is that there is no reference to that article being ficticious (on your commentary), and you added words supposedly being from Larry King and Joel Osteen.
The comment below was never addressed by you or anyone of iconbusters.
"The commentary made by the speaker for iconbusters in the presence of Larry King and Joel Olsteen was simply on point, and almost a perfect testimony (in my humble opinion)."

While I wholeheartedly agree that Joel Osteen is grosely off in nearly every point, I don't necessarily see the point in making something up to prove a point. His testimony speaks for itself.

ck: "The truth is to be decided by scripture,"

Who decides when Scripture has "decided" the truth?

ck: "the cry of the reformation was justification by faith"

Yes. There was another cry, however, that was heard in *conjunction* with that of justification by faith alone, in Christ alone! That cry was the Pope of Rome is the Antichrist; his church, Mystery Babylon!

You would have us believe the Reformers were godly men while they were proclaiming justification by faith alone, but were *unanimously* misled and suddenly became ignorant of Scripture, when they identified the Pope as the Antichrist -- many of them writing whole commentaries on the books of Revelation and 2 Thessalonians to prove their assertions and warn the flock! (Luther, Fulke, Cartwright, Brightman, Pareus, Cotton, Junius, Bullinger (Heinrich), Bale, Foxe, More, Holland, Tymme, Fergusson, Newton, Dent, and Durham are but a few.)

You would know this, had you done your homework. History has been willfully covered up, to keep professing Christians in the dark. The sheer volume of writings from the 16th and 17th centuries, all identifying the Pope as the Antichrist, would make your head spin!

Either there were prophetic witnesses during the Reformation, or Christ lied.

Here is a quote from Mr Dotzler's web-site.

THE POPE SAYS:

"Wherefore, if those things that I do, be said to be done not of man, but of God; what can you make me but God?" - Gregory IX

SCRIPTURE SAYS:

...that man of sin...who opposeth and exalteth himself above all that is called God, or that is worshipped; so that he as God sitteth in the temple of God, shewing himself that he is God.

Mr Dotzler, you did not read this passage very well. This passage indicates that the man of sin will declare himself God instead of any who is called God, which would include Jesus Christ, and that is something the Pope has not done.

This is not a good passage to prove your doctrine but it is a good passage to demonstrate your inability to read carefully and to believe what you read.

PS, when has the pope sat in the temple of God and made these claims?

Dear Derek and Walt:
After having perused my website, do you really believe I would have been invited on the Larry King Live telecast?

Of course, I was not invited. Our ministry receives hate mail by the bucketful, falsely accusing us of all kinds of heresies, including not loving unconditionally all who name the name of the Lord.

Modern-day Christianity is a cesspool of satanic lies which we intend to expose and reprove until Jesus takes us home.

I did not alter one word of Osteen's testimony. I did not alter one word of King's testimony, with the exception of writing his questions and responses to me. I also wrote Osteen's response to my final question, basing it on his entire testimony while on air.

I felt an urgent need to answer in a biblical, godly fashion questions which Osteen either neglected to answer or answered erroneously. I did this to edify the professing Body of Christ who have never heard the truth in these terms.

Thus, I placed myself in the interview, a witness for all who come to our website.

What? You must be from mars or maybe another country or something! Please try to stay with me here! The truth is to be decided by scripture, the cry of the reformation was justification by faith, we need that again! You are right, that makes me such a hypocrit, let me bow before your holiness and acknowledge your superority!

they were just men either way whether I agree with them or not! You are a piece of work and quite dishonest in your conversation! Looking to take issue and prove others wrong whatever the price it appears to me!
