If you or your church do not currently have a Bible memorization plan, then we at CEFC invite you to join us in our corporate memorization plan called "Treasuring God's Word Together" (TGWT).
The title comes from Psalm 119:11 - "I have stored up (literally, 'treasured up') Your Word in my heart, that I might not sin against You."
Each week we will focus on one memory verse, usually from the sermon text, for devotion, meditation, and memory. Our prayer is that as we dwell on these verses each week, our faith will be deepened, and as we focus on these together, we will have greater unity around the Word, Christ, and the Gospel!
I will post our TGWT verse each week on Twitter (@pastorwilowens) and FB (Wil Owens) if you would like to join in.
Here are several practical ways to "treasure up" these verses.
1. Go over the verse each night as a family at the dinner table.
2. Talk through the verse phrase-by-phrase as a family/private devotion.
3. Pray through the verse during your daily prayer time and/or family prayer time.
4. Pray the verse to God when under temptation.
5. Develop a system of review such as making memory cards and keeping them in a handy box.
Our first two verses:
Psalm 119:18 - Open my eyes, that I may behold wondrous things out of Your law. (This is a great verse to pray every time you approach God's Word in whatever form, reading, sermon, or study.)
Psalm 84:4 - Gladden the soul of Your servant, for to You, O Lord, do I lift up my soul. (Treasuring Up God's Word in our hearts is one way of lifting our souls to God. When we do, we can be sure that He will gladden our souls!)
