Easter morning has come, Christ is risen from the dead and has become the first-fruits of those who have fallen asleep. Men and demons rage against him, men try to deny the resurrection, but the Easter angels come to us with their message, "Why do you seek the living among the dead? He is not here, for He is risen." And our hearts reply in wonder, "He is risen indeed."
We know pain, loss and suffering in this world. but the morning of resurrection reminds us that this is not for ever. If this vale of tears ends in the valley of the shadow of death, then beyond that valley is the Celestial City, which is our goal. And there waits for us the risen Lord of Life, His body still bearing the wounds of the crucified, the marks of His love for us. Thus Easter Morning lights the tomb. And Easter morning points to the morn of our resurrection, when there shall be an end to all suffering and pain.
So we render our thanks to our Father for the resurrection. We thank Him for His love with which He has loved us, for the everlasting hope that the empty tomb gives to us, and for the Gospel of Christ Jesus, who has brought life and immortality to light.
