"The Necessity of a Vision" Proverbs 29:18 (Heb. 11:1-16, Is. 66:12-15, 21-24)
From time to time I turn to the wisdom literature of the scripture that is practical and has rich application to our life. "When there is no vision the people perish." We hear this phrase in this world often today. Where is the vision in this world today?...or closer, how clear is the vision of Heaven to the church world today? How clear are His precepts? "Without vision constrain is cast out" "Wit...hout revelation the people come unbridled" There is a vision which is God's however! From time to time God's saints lost that vision and they became unbridled in their lives. We are not here to fix the world, but we must have a CLEAR vision and with clarity of that vision we will be led in a Godly life!
The word vision when looked up has many definitions. God gave directly to the patriarchs in visions. There was progression from direct revelation to the Lord speaking through a seer who had a vision of God. The people needed a visionary as He spoke through the prophets. He spoke through a median. God reveals His secret to His people even today. In the Old Testament through the median, the prophet, and NOW in the New Testament through the Prophet par Excellance, Our Lord Jesus Christ who IS the VISION of God to us! The vision of God gives to His people...then, now, and always! The vision of Heaven.....His Kingdom!
Where there is no vision the people perish. Israel perished when she lost the vision. The same vision, the same salvation is the same vision of Heaven that we have. Where there is no vision there is a casting off of the restraints we read literally here. The less clear the vision the more mudane and carnal the Church begins to live. The laws and precepts become meaningless and one becomes concerned only with oneself. We don't concern ourselves with dying normally, BUT if we were told we would die tomorrow we would be concerned! And often our vision is not clear and is blurred. It is not a CRISP idea of the Glory that awaits YOU! Unto the 3rd and 4th generation this are visited in ways that are unbridled!!! Biting isn't it?!
How clear is that vision in the heart and soul of our children as they observe us? DO they take in the aroma of the Glory that awaits us to the degree that they can see and taste it? To the degree we tarnish it....it becomes unbridled! Where it lives you find God's covenant people onward to Glory.
