Pastor Dale is a statesman. I'm just blunt. Our church has a large number of homeschooling families from various denominational backgrounds. Many of them do not see the necessity of joining a church. Others regard this Baptist concept of church membership as merely tradition. We're just happy they've chosen to be a part of the family at First Baptist Church Las Colinas--a family integrated church. However, in response to some sincere questions from people who were trying to discern if they really needed to "join the church" or just continue coming to it, Pastor Dale preaches this message to show the biblical basis for church membership. It was an uncomfortable sermon for him; both he and I prefer expository messages. But he did a beautiful job of showing what God's Word has to say on the subject -- and he said it in so gracious a way. I commend this sermon to you. -- Bro. Robert
