We have a weekly discipleship call for the men in our church and each week discussing different command of Christ. Many of the guys on our call commented that this particular sermon from our church was convicting to them. It explained to them why they are having problems relating to their children and teenagers and to their wives. Even as I preached the sermon, it reminded me of how I need to strive to be a better listener and to take more time for what often seems to be inconsequential moments of conversation with my children. If I do not show them that I care to listen to the little things now – while they are still little – how will they know they can come to me with the big problems later in life? May God grant us all the grace to learn the four secrets to having an understanding heart.
