Great Comment! Thank you for your comment. I mentioned amulets and crystals from Etsy as examples. There are more influences, like the ones you mentioned, that, to varying degrees, do illustrate the movement in our culture that I was describing. Christians need to prayerfully consider how they interact with the culture in which they live.
I do not believe this necessitates complete abstinence from culture, but we need to be thoughtful with all forms of media. Although I am not a fan of Disney, I would be okay with Christians watching most Disney movies with discerning eyes. We need to be thoughtful about the philosophies communicated in these movies. The content is important, but we must also evaluate the philosophies that undergird these movies.
As for Wicked, I haven't seen the production. I do not think having witches in a narrative is necessarily wrong, but, if it communicates that witchcraft is a good thing, the Christian must be aware of this and look to scripture for instruction.
Again, helpful comment. Thank you!
Would like to ask It was interesting that you stated that witchcraft is getting more popular. But the only things you mentioned were amulets and crystals from Etsy. What about other stuff infiltrating this world and OPC, just to name a few areas: feasts (Halloween) books, songs, movies, Disney movies, or your favorite musical Wicked? Isn’t it inspired by witchcraft and witches? Could this also be the cause?
Great salvation in Christ. Good and useful message. Blessed and powerful salvation only in the Lord Jesus Christ, not in external religion. Thank you!
Amen! Providential message Dr. Curto! Sadly many in confessional church leadership need to be reminded of this message.
In the words of Francis Schaeffer,
"Biblical orthodoxy without compassion is surely the ugliest thing in the world."
