God is sovereign. God is sovereign over the history of Abraham, Isaac and Ishmael. He keeps Hos promises he made to Ishmael - how much more can we trust in Him: He will keep His promises made to us.
Great Sermon! Dear Pastor, Thank you for your word. Jesus died, He said 'It is finished' to reveal to us the life without end, the eternal gospel. God bless you for lifting up Jesus so that people will be drawn to Him.
In Christ alone, Lia Leigh.
Our hope is in God. God's will is our sanctification. But our hope is the fact that God will do in us this work of sanctification and Christ will present us blameless in glory.
Preaching grace and wrath. We must preach with faithfulness, like John, the grace and the wrath of God, repentance and condemnation, the sacrificial love of God and the holiness of God.
God's wisdom. God destroys the wisdom of those who, in their pride, listen not to God; but God opens the understanding of His elect so that they may embrace His wisdom.
Great Savior. God gathers His people into His presence. We cannot stand before Him after out righteousness, but only clothed with the righteousness of Christ, our King.
Great passion for the Word. A man caught in the wonder of Scripture and of its importance, who made the scope of his life to study it, to translate it and to spread it so people may know the Word of God.
God with us. God's promise of blessing His people and of His presence with them. He was with His people, He is with them and He will be forever in their midst.
Bitter Naomi. Naomi depicted as bitter against God and faithless. I think it is better to see Naomi as conscious about God's disciplining in her life. God's hand was against her. What testimony can she give to Ruth?
Excellent. Excellent presentation of the spiritual background. Israel under curse for disobedience. A husband in disobedience, who in stead of repenting, brings his family to die in Moab. Best sermon on Ruth I ever heard!
Useful. These days I am studying the New Perspectives on Paul. Listening to this message my eyes were open to an argument against the NPP. The context in Psalm 32 is not about membership in the church, but it is sin, individual sin. And God is doing something, forgiving sin, as basis of our entering in covenant with Him. Paul quotes Psalm 32 in Romans 4 and states that this non-imputation of sin is justification. So here is a biblical argument against NPP view of justification.
