Great Sermon! Brother Moore, that was a great sermon on these verses. I have been trying to understand them for a long time.
I recently read where one theologian saw this as God desiring all men to be saved but had a second desire, not to save all men. He proclaims two desires of God, one greater than the other which supersedes the lesser desire.
If you don't mind, I would like to add what I have understood from these verses.
In 1 Tim 2:6 it says Christ "gave Himself a ransom for all". Can we conclude that the "all" in this verse is no different than the "all" 2:4 then everyone has been ransomed and all will be saved? I don't think so.
Would it not make more sense that 1 Tim 2:3 is referring to all "kinds" of people? This would include "kings and all who are in authority" especially in view of 1 cor 1:26-29 where Paul taught that God is calling the weak things, the foolish things, the base things, but not many noble or mighty. Nevertheless in 1 Tim, he instructs them to pray for all men, kings etc and those not mighty or noble.
Lastly, 1 Tim 6:10 uses the same Greek word for "all" but there, many translations insert the word "kinds" because we know the love of money is not the root of all evil, but is the root of all "kinds" of evil?
Great Sermon! Good rounded presentation of the abomination of desolation ( not sure I am clear regards this term tho ! ). Gives both sides Preturist and futurist.
Great Sermon! Lots of interesting stuff here- never knew what preterism was before. I think prophesy is interesting but I think I get more excited by the event eg how awesome is the power that causes the resurrection of the dead ( the rapture timing is a bit boring compared to meditating upon the power).
Great Sermon! Discussion on biblically legitimate civil disobedience eg preaching the gospel even when commanded not to. Argument into although we are commanded to pay taxes, we are not accountable to god for the immoral usage of that money by government. Interesting discussion.
Great Sermon! John the baptists demise ( martyrdom of all the early disciples bar John). Sober thoughts on how preaching the truth often leads to unpopularity.
Good msg + info on Conference msgs it mentioned I appreciated this message, and wanted to let others know where online they can find videos of the messages given at the conference which Elder Moore mentioned --

Good sermon + Info on MLJ's 'Spiritual Depression' In his sermon, Kevin Moore recommended D. Martyn Lloyd-Jones' book, "Spiritual Depression: Its Causes and Cure".
FYI - Here in the US, that book is available from MLJ-USA.com for $16, and the book with corresponding MP3 sermons for $26.
You can also download the same sermons for free from MLJ-USA.com.
Or, you can buy the book with MP3 sermons for $22 from grantedministries.org, which also has a free dowloadable (PDF) study guide for the book.
