The LORD has answered my prayer! This passage in John 12 has puzzled me for years. And for years, I have asked the LORD to reveal the meaning of it to me. It has always confused me. The Greeks that sought the LORD Jesus were brought to the LORD by Philip and Andrew. The disciples then told Christ that Greeks had arrived, who sought to see Him. But the next portion of Scripture never made sense to me, as the LORD answered, seemingly not addressing the situation of the waiting visitors. He said, "The hour has come, that the Son of Man should be glorified". I always knew that the LORD would speak the words that were infinitely right and true at every moment, but I did not understand why He answered in the way that He did. Many a time, I have heard sermons on this portion of the Word, but in every case, the preacher skipped over the issue of the seeking Greeks and went on to expound the portion that included only the LORD'S sermon. Pastor Veldman, you are the first preacher who has specifically explained why the LORD Jesus answered in the way that he did, and His words were directly in reference to the Greeks coming to meet Him. And so, today, the LORD has answered my prayer concerning this difficult portion of the Word. Praise His Name. I appreciate the reference you made to Isaiah 53. O LORD! Give us more light! |
