Great Sermon! Having listened to 'WM # 25: Review: Wretched Interview with James White' and followed the same information on your website blog I found this current rejoinder to be vey interesting indeed due to the points that you have graciously raised. It would be interesting to see Dr James White address those points and respond in kind. I am sure this sermon would be of interest to all who take the time to listen carefully.
Faith in a great God. A life and a ministry blessed by God. A life of faith, of trusting God for everything. Only God can make this kind of people.
Great study. This was a good study which showed the erroneous theology and methods of this preacher. We must preach God's sovereignty in salvation and revival, because this is the biblical teaching.
Great dedication. Very inspiring the lessons from the life and ministry of this faithful servant of God, who gave his life for Christ and for people.
Great price. What a great price to pay in order to be a faithful minister of Christ! What a love for Christ to be ready to suffer so much for Him! What a love of God for sinner to prepare such servants who are ready to do all things for Him and for the salvation of sinners.
Inspiring. Very rich message. Especially the quotes from Fuller's Memoirs, with those personal touches, are very illuminating. I really inspiring message.
Good teaching. A church is a supernatural creation of God, bringing together people whose life He changed by the power of the Holy Spirit, through the preaching of the Gospel.
Interesting. Useful and interesting presentation of the life and ministry of Broadus, as pastor and professor. Also, it is interesting the discussion about Crawford Toy's move toward Liberalism and, then, Unitarianism.
Good argumentation. Very good refutation of John MacArthur's erroneous view. Excellent also the explanation of the importance of taking seriously matters like this.
Practical, Relevant Message! The message title may cause many to fear that this implies blind obedience and submission to pastors, but Fuller quickly dispels that with this message that includes:
1. How pastors are to be elected, not imposed.
2. The criteria for submission to pastors, which is limited and qualified, not absolute nor arbitrary.
3. Criteria for hiring and firing pastors; what pastors are worthy of obedience.
4. The need for willing submission of people to their pastors, how they should behave toward faithful ones.
5. Get this: PEOPLE SHOULD EXPECT "PERSONAL VISITS" FROM THEIR PASTOR, to address personal matters!
What pastors today engage in personal visits, to "watch out for your souls", outsides of Sunday sermons?
This historic message rebukes the anti-authoritarian spirit of this present age, which rejects obedience and submission, and also the tyranny or disconnectedness, or lack of qualified pastors in today's churches.
Thought Provoking and Powerful I love it when the preacher makes a beeline straight for Christ from the opening of the message and continues on that theme throughout. Dr. Murray beautifully illustrates that every single aspect of the created world was planned by Christ and executed to bring glory to Christ in the outworking of our redemption. You won't look at the natural world in the same way after hearing this powerful message.
