Great Sermon! This was interesting as I had always thought that the white horse was Satan rather than Jesus and the gospel ?
Anyone with any thoughts on this I would love to hear anyone else's views - my own Christian contacts are exactly split 50:50 ?
Strong Sermon! This message gives us a clear understanding of what a True Christian does and believes as opposed to a professing Christian does and believes. It forces us to see ourselves when we see what the Holy Scriptures say about a spiritual follower and a carnal follower and why one is true and one is false. If the Holy Spirit abides in you, how can you permit the sinful nature be your guidance?
Great Sermon! Excellent sermon on how theology dictates culture. It was amazing how godly preachers predicted the destruction of our culture well before the war of northern aggression based on all the schisms in the churches. (I ordered the book by Goen, I want to learn more.)
Preaching Christ. Stoddard, a man who knew the fear of the Lord and who tried to convince people to come to the Lord. At the same time, I think we must not excuse or show sympathy with his error regarding the Lord's Supper (seen as a saving ordinance). In this aspect he made final authority not the Scriptures, but his experience.
Great tragedy. Sadly, the Reformed Church in Hungary and Transylvania is fallen under the power of Liberalism and the theology of Karl Barth. There are few born again pastors in it. And this Church is in association with WCC.
Light in darkness. The preaching of God’s Word brought light in the darkness. The Turks favored the Protestants against Catholics because they saw Catholics (and Greek Orthodox) as idolaters because these worshiped images and statues.
Grace of God. God's saving grace in the lives of Bradwardine and Wycliffe. God had His people in the history of the Church and He gave faithful servants to His Church.
Opposition to Rome. Presentation of the man God raised in England to oppose the Pope's plans to control England. I tended to give not great importance to events like this, which were not all connected with a true biblical reformation, but I understand that they were useful to make England better prepared to quit with Rome.
Great zeal for God. God's sovereignty seen in the conversion of this man. Peaise God for those who sought to worship God according to the Scriptures and to their consciences, not submitting to human rules!
Great Sermon! Circumcision of babies 8 days old showing man BORN with a sin nature. I liked your treatment of this aspect. Hadn't seen this before in circumcision.
Ron Cooke a Sound Preacher I think it was Pink who said that humility is best exampled in the way a person exalts Christ. Ron Cooke over the years in his service for the Lord is a fine example of that.
