What a good and instructive sermon! Let us bear in mind that Jacob was a vessel of mercy, a vessel God would prepare for glory....

“ Searching Sermon! ”
Oh how prone we are, even the most faithful of believers to linger. By nature we love the world dearly and unless God in His mercy and by His Spirit takes hold of us and leads us out of the world, we would perish. This sermon is very powerfully preached and is an excellent message for all lingerers

“ Humbling Sermon! ”
I thought I was able by the grace of God to pray but after listening to this sermon I came to see that I'm much deficient. Oh that the Lord would pour out the Spirit of prayer on all who realize and acknowledge their own deficiencies that prayer may be effectual and fervent, issuing from a humble and contrite heart. Thank you Mr Beeke this sermon is a must hear for every Christian professing the name of Christ.

“ Great Sermon! ”
Truly,God is good to Israel for He will hasten to perform His Word. Oh how good it is to both hope and quietly wait for the salvation of the Lord for He has given His people many, many exceeding great and precious promises and says to them, Believe in the Lord your God,so shall ye be established;believe his prophets so shall ye prosper. Oh how gracious is the God of the Bible, considering his gentle rebuke with Sarah He often rebukes His people with a glance. These that live and walk so close to Him, He doesn't even need to say a word but a simple glance from him, bring His people into sorrow and repentance for they know their God and cleave fast to Him even as Elisha to Elijah and Ruth to Naomi. The same God that created the heavens and the earth vows to help His people with the same wisdom, power and goodness He employed in creation. Oh saints of God lift, lift your voices in praise to this glorious wonderful covenant keeping God, who is truly glorious in holiness fearful in praises doing wonders.

“ Lovely Sermon! ”
How beautiful and how searching! Beautiful in that God, the high and lofty One that inhabiteth eternity should stoop so low as to visit His tried and weary people to comfort them, to remind them of their covenant privileges, to ever so gently and lovingly rebuke them for their unfaithfulness but to confer upon them a blessing thus kissing them with the kisses of His mouth. Oh how blessed are those saints who know this joyful sound, for they shall walk in the light of His countenance. But searching, for who can listen to this sermon and not feel ashamed that too often we have not entertained the Lord in ministering to His people? Thank you Dr Beeke this message greatly comforts but greatly rebukes our unfaithfulnesses.

“ Sobering Sermon! ”
What a much needed and timely exhortation, "put away all your DIY plans" No doubt the following 15 years of Abrams life were years of regret and sorrow. How true that word "thou wast a God that forgavest them, though thou tookest vengeance of their inventions " We must never kid ourselves, DIY sins that we have committed will find us out as Nathans word came to David "Thou art the man" so will God pour gall and wormwood into our souls till we repent and ask again for those old paths. Sermons of this nature are much needed in a day and age where much that passes as being spiritual answers to the corrupt customs of the world we live in.

“ Sobering Sermon! ”
One of the hardest, I may say the hardest of all Christian duties is waiting on the Lord. Waiting that is for the appointed time when that vision the believer has seen, will be fulfilled. One must wait for it, though it tarry. But alas, many faithful saints have over the generations bought down upon themselves many woes and sorrows by running ahead of God and taking matters into their own hands, as the father of the faithful has done here. And though one can never excuse such self will or lightly brush it off, God has His way even in the whirlwind. These woeful and sad failures of the saints God will use, to keep His people humble and regretful in the many years to come as they reflect upon and taste those most bitter fruits of self will, and of their having miscarried and failed. These experiences God will use to keep the heart of His people contrite and their eyes tearful, which is an acceptable sacrifice to God. How gloriously wonderful are God's ways, bringing light out of darkness and good out of evil, causing all things to work together for the good of those that love God those who are the called according to His purpose.

“ Oh what a good sermon ! ”
Here in this sermon one discovers the greatest Christian blessing; the elect child of God being pronounced righteous, that is Christ's very own righteousness imputed to the weak and trembling believer as Dr Beeke has well said. How little of this is heard of today, how lesser still is it understood. God must needs bring Abram to the utter end of himself. All Abrams props and stays must be removed God comes down to him when most weak, fearful and trembling and shows Abram His all sufficiency to perform and fulfil the promises. Grace then enables the elect child to embrace and trust God for its fulfillment. So it is with all the true children of Abram today. God must break down before He can build up, must kill before He can make alive, must wound before He can heal. Must bring His people to the end of themselves and see their redeemer as mighty to save, an a eternal refuge whos everlasting arms can never fail them.

Up till now Abrams life is one of ups and downs. One of many and varied trials to prepare him for yet a greater blessing. God has been putting his faith on trial in order to bring it to such a pitch as to embrace Gods grand covenant promise; "So shall thy seed be"

“ Beautiful Sermon! ”
Oh how highly, highly, privileged and loved are the elect, Gods highly favoured covenant people. It is beyond all comprehension. That they are so black yet comely in His sight. When they see much vilness and corruption within their own breast, Jesus still says,Thou art all fair my love; there is no spot in thee. When the elect have been unfaithful, failing to entertain the knocking Saviour, she still is in His eyes, the fairest among women, accepted in the beloved. How can such love ever be comprehended that God remains faithful even when the saint is unfaithful??? Such knowledge is too wonderful for me;it is high I cannot attain unto it, that God has loved me with an everlasting love and has made with me an everlasting covenant, ordered in ALL things and SURE: Oh child of God, thou afflicted, tossed with tempest and not comforted. Thou who are weak, and faint yet pursuing, cast down but never cast off, learn to trace all your privileges, mercies and covenant blessings to your having been chosen in Christ before time was. Trace all back to Gods electing purposes and praise your Saviour for that good work he began which He will finish perfecting that which concerns us.

“ Great Sermon! ”
How searching, here in these verses lies the touchstone of all true trust in the Lord Jesus. And if pondered and considered honestly, how few today are actual true Christians. One should bear in mind that with the inward call comes an outward providence which powerfully by Gods Spirit severs the true sons of Abraham from his idols, his love of idolatry, his love of the world, and his inordinate love of family and pleasure. These all appear in Abraham's calling. Its sad today to see this one little word "faith" is so misunderstood. Its never a one time done assent to a call of salvation. It would be better if the greek word trust was used. Abraham trusted, it was a daily trusting when God was removing all the props from his life so that at last he would fall into the arms of his glorious God. This is implied by his not knowing where he was going. When God calls the elect he usually plunges them into many difficulties, trials and troubles which will last for years. One may never understand whats happening but onething is absolutely essential, trusting God, that is, looking to Him, waiting for Him, crying to Him depending on Him. Thank you Dr Beeke. This brought many wonderful memories of my effectual calling from God.

“ Beautiful Sermon! ”
Noahs praise and worship issued forth from a heart of great gratitude for he had seen and felt visually and experiencially, God's great salvation. The problem today why our worship is so heartless and cold is because our lives lack those experiential evidences of God having done great things for us. In order for our worship to be in spirit and in truth we must be able to trace the Hand of God in all our windings and turnings. In all our ups and downs in our troubles and our deliverances and say with the psalmist, For thou Lord, hast made me glad through thy work: l will triumph in the works of thy hands. Moses to encourage the children of Israel and draw out their hearts to praise their God said to them, And thou shalt remember all the way which the Lord thy God led thee these forty years in the wilderness, to humble thee, and to prove thee, to know what was in thine heart...; We must be certain and our consciences give testimony to the fact that, I have been saved by a mighty Hand and saved from my sin and hence from the wrath to come, this truly makes us thankful and its here all true worship has its beginnings. Thank you Dr Beeke for this message. It is a wonderful encouragement for all the true Noahs to abound in praises and thankgivings.

“ Excellent sermon ”
We see so often in the sacred Scriptures, God takes the second born and blesses, leaving the privileged first born to remain under His wrath. Surely this instructs us that our natural birth is cursed but the new birth has all the blessings of this life and the life to come attached to it. Thank you Dr Beeke, this was an excellent message, very sound, very solemn, delivered with demonstration and power of the Spirit.

“ Wonderful sermon ”
I couldn't help but think of the fears and uncertainties Noah would have felt as he entered into the ark. Then the difficulties of becoming acquainted with the new life he had embarked upon. Then, the doubts, more fears troubles and personal struggles. Feelings of being maybe forsaken of God,days with no God,days where his thoughts run everywhere except to God, more struggles with depression of spirit, not to mention the onslaughts of the enemy in his mind, but all with a hope and expectation that as God had begun a good work He would complete it. And then the joys oh the joy, truly unspeakable and full of glory Noah must have felt as the time was approaching when he would step out into a new world. Yes his covenant keeping God had shown Himself faithful. This only the true Noahs know or can relate to because it is the very life of every elect child of God.

“ Great Sermon! ”
How wonderfully beautiful is this message. Gods covenant love and faithfulness to his chosen people is so beautifully set forth by Dr Beeke that it caused great tears of joy to run down my face. Many are the afflictions of righteous, but the Lord delivereth him out of them all. Thank you Dr Beeke for your faithfulness to a God who truly, truly is glorious in holiness, fearful in praises, doing wonders.

“ Great Sermon! ”
The Lord has used Dr. Beeke so powerfully in my life, because his messages are so devotional and he preaches biblical truth clearly. The glory of God is central to the messages and in this particular sermon, parts 1 & 2, he doesn't get involved with debating the different end times views concerning the millennium or anything. He just preaches orthodox, historic, and biblical eschatology, which assumes the fact that the millennium is the gospel age of grace in which we now live, and reveals the fact that when Christ comes again, that day is the final Day of Judgment. And so everyone must repent now and believe in the only Lord and Savior. The teachings of Christ's coming are intended to invoke fear and trembling to those unsaved that they may turn to Him, because when He comes, it's over and there will be no further opportunity ever for salvation, because that begins the eternal state. But to those who belong to Him the promise of His coming is our blessed hope. I personally believe any other view of Christ's coming or the end is misleading and therefore a lie of the devil. The King is coming!

Another great message to find personal strength in facing today's temptations and problems as they did in the days of Thyatira. Excellent advice and suggestions that worked in ancient days and will work today.

“ Revealing Sermon! ”
This message is relevant to facing today's problems in the church and culture. The weaknesses and temptations faced during the days of Thyatira are exactly as today, and we can see how the problems can be solved today.
