Convicting Sermon! Listening to this sermon I could not help but think that laid in an even balance I'm found wanting. If there is one word that the saint should give the more earnest heed to, its this word obedience. But alas alas its never pressed upon the consciences of congregations as it ought to be. In nearly almost every evangelical church today the emphasis of obedience is outward like, who shall I marry? Shall I become a missionary preacher? What vocation should I persue? Or how would God have me to glorify Him with my gifts and talents? Basically its, should I go to the left hand or to the right or should I do this or not do it. None of these things are in Gods revealed Word, but that which is,namely the complete dying to self, the daily binding of our old man with cords unto the horns of Gods altar as an acceptable sacrifice to God, and as Dr Beeke well said giving to God our hearts and then praying and crying to Him that He would make us holy as He is holy. Indeed our sanctification should and must always evidence our justification. That is, those who walk in the narrow way upon that path that is paved with afflictions as is the sense in the original text, they and they only have entered in at the narrow gate. Thank you for this message Mr Beeke,it had this effect on me Psalm 19:12-14.
