Great Sermon! What is the focal point of Christianity? Is it Christ? In this excellent sermon Pastor Beers brings the light of the Scripture to bear on the modern charismatic movement with its focus upon the Holy Spirit instead of upon Christ. He also shows us that the Spirit will not exalt man, but rather Christ! It is Christ's strength and sacrifice that saves you, not your own decision or works or strength; no, it is only Christ! Take heed Christian and ensure your focus is upon the Lilly of the Valley, the Bright and Morning Star, the King of Kings, Jesus Christ! Note: This recording opens with a bit of congregational Psalm singing!
Outstanding Sermon! Do you worship the true and living God, or have you created an imaginary god in your mind? One need not bow before a graven image to be an idolator! We must love, worship, and submit to God as He really is, which is to say, as He is revealed to us in the Scripture. Even many professing Christians have erected an imaginary god in their hearts, and must repent of their idolatry and receive the true God as he really is! One of the greatest sermons we have ever heard!
Excellent Sermon! Have you ever wondered why some believe the gospel, and others do not? Have you ever wondered why some people go to hell, if Christ died for all the sins of everyone? This sermon covers the historic origin of the Five Points of Calvinism, and provides the biblical foundation for each point in a clear, concise manner. Great preaching!
Great Sermon! "Give us day by day our daily bread." Luke 11:3 We all know the Lord's Prayer, but do we "know" it? This sermon by Pastor Silversides explores the depths of what is meant when we ask God to provide our daily bread. Are we content with the Lord's provision? Do we expend our strength in the Lord's service? Oh, that we would truly desire and ask for God to provide, and serve Him with all His provision for us!
Outstanding Sermon! Outstanding sermon in which the obligation of keeping the weekly sabbath day holy is demonstrated from the scriptures. The sabbath was given to man as a creation ordinance before sin entered the world, and was affirmed by Christ to be "made for man" (Mark 2:27), showing that the sabbath is for all men in all times, and not just for the Jews. If you love the Lord as your Savior, you will love the Sabbath Day!
Great Sermon! Was the Reformation a mistake? Has the Roman Catholic church changed? Should Protestants reunite with Rome? This sermon answers these questions, leaving no doubt that the Reformation was not only necessary, but a tremendous blessing as well!
Good insight and counsel Very much appreciate your good insight that God's fear emits fury. Truly, it is the fear of God through JESUS Christ and Lord with us that elicits the greatest rage and fury from unsaved men. God will have the last say after all the dust settles. Thank you for the good word from the book of Matthew.
Matthew 5:16
Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works, and glorify your Father which is in heaven.
Do you desire God's will to be done? Nearly every Christian has heard the words of the Lord's Prayer, but have we given much thought to what was taught to us by our Lord? In this sermon Pastor Silversides once again takes us to the heart of the matter and explains what is meant by the phrase "Thy will be done, as in heaven, so in earth." Make these words mean something and truly long to see God's will being worked out on earth!
Excellent explanation of faith and prayer! Pastor Beers utilizes Mark 11:20-24 to instruct the hearer on how prayer and faith work together. He takes the Scriptures and applies them to the Christian's ongoing life of prayer, exposing where we are lacking and how we can improve our prayers. Well worth listening to in order to improve your prayer life!
Great Lecture! "Here lies a man who in his life never feared the face of man." Listen to this sermon to learn about the great Scottish reformer, John Knox, who feared God so much that he did not fear man!
Great Sermon! Excellent overview of the life and doctrine of the great reformer, John Calvin. Calvin was uniquely gifted by God to systematize the work begun by Luther and others, and was also a man of immense compassion and humanity, contrary to popular belief. Be sure to listen to this biography!
Sweet comfort in the way Good to be reminded that God is in command. Good to trust in the good shepherd.
Good to lay up treasures in heaven.
Thank you for your gracious prayers.
Romans 8:27-28
(27) And he that searcheth the hearts knoweth what is the mind of the Spirit, because he maketh intercession for the saints according to the will of God.
(28) And we know that all things work together for good to them that love God, to them who are the called according to his purpose.
Powerful Sermon! What is the kingdom of God, and how will it be brought about? What is your duty in regard to it? This sermon answers these questions, and more!
This is an hard saying; who can hear it? In the sermon "A word about women from the King of the church," Reverend David Silversides preaches particularly on 1 Corinthians 14, verses 34 and 35: "(34) Let your women keep silence in the churches: for it is not permitted unto them to speak; but they are commanded to be under obedience, as also saith the law. (35) And if they will learn any thing, let them ask their husbands at home: for it is a shame for women to speak in the church." In keeping with "Old French silence", "c. 1200", women are to "keep silence", "muteness, state of being silent" or "absence of sound" in the body of Christ, the church (http://www.etymonline.com/search?q=keep+silence).  In keeping with "late Old English predician, a loan word from Church Latin", women are forbidden "to preach, give a sermon", "to proclaim publicly, announce", "to proclaim, to say", "to show" or to "pronounce solemnly" the Word of God "in front of, before" the body of Christ, the church (http://www.etymonline.com/word/preach)." Nevertheless, Proverbs 31:1-31 are "(1) The words of king Lemuel, the prophecy that his mother taught him."Â
Great Sermon! This a useful sermon for clearing up common misconceptions concerning oaths and vows. Pastor Silversides plainly shows what oaths and vows are, their lawfulness, uses, and obligation, as well as the care with which they should be used and kept. Very practical!
Great Sermon! Excellent introduction to the topic of covenanting, as well as to the Solemn League and Covenant. This sermon clearly sets forth the historical background of the SLC and also its biblical basis. May the Lord give those of us who hold to the Covenant grace to remain faithful until the Lord grants our people repentance for their covenant breaking!
Great Sermon! Yes, may God give us grace to hallow His name in this evil day. It's so sad to see how even professing Christians treat His great name with irreverence! This sermon should cause us all to examine ourselves to discover how we may be dishonoring our blessed Saviour.
Doctrinal and Practical! Pastor Beers shows in this sermon that as Christ humbled himself by taking on human flesh, so ought we to humble ourselves. Also, we love this quote from the sermon: "In his life, Christ kept the law; in his death, Christ silenced the law." Great quote!
