Introduction Today there are many types of churches and many types of theories about church. The reality is the only proper definition of a church and the only proper model for a church is found in the Bible. A church is a local visible assembly of baptized believers. The purpose of the church is to bring glory to God, strengthen the believer and defend the truth of the Bible. The mission of the church is to take the Gospel to the world. All of the seeker-sensitive, purpose-driven church growth models are systems created by men and are not found in the Bible. God said in Acts 2:47 that He added to the church. Church growth is to be led by God and is not a result of slick marketing programs led by men.
