The Lord protected Noah, his family, and all of the animals on the ark during the flood and then guided the ark to a resting place and caused the earth to dry out after the judgment. The last instruction that God gave Noah was to board the ark. During the long days and nights of judgment, the Lord was watching over Noah but was silent in revelation. In chapter 8, God instructs Noah to leave the ark and begin the process of repopulating the earth. In response, Noah offers a sacrifice from each of the clean animals, and the Lord promises to never destroy all life on earth again. After the great cataclysmic flood, God will maintain regular seasons during the time the earth exists. We know from the New Testament that the present earth is reserved for fire (2 Peter 3:7) and there will be new heavens and a new earth (2 Peter 3:13; Revelation 21:1), but until then God will maintain regularity in the earth's operation. We know that His final judgment is coming, but we live in an age of grace, proclaiming the good news of salvation from wrath by trusting in the completed work of our Lord Jesus Christ.
