It is a crazy trend today. Many Christians are now living by their feelings rather than walking by faith. What happened? People are encouraged to "vent," and social media asks you to post, "What's On Your Mind?" Many of us have become sensuous Christians, living by our feelings rather than through our understanding of the Word of God. People serve when they "feel like it." They attend church when they "feel like it." The list goes on. People are running around chasing new spiritual experiences rather than studying the sacred Scriptures. We must love God with our mind too. We must be hearers and doers of the Word of God. We all know the story about the house that was built on the rock and the house that was built on the sand. The houses are metaphors for two different religious lives. The houses look the same but the foundations are vastly different. One man practices what he preaches, the other man does not. Then comes the storm, testing the construction by adversity and then final judgment. The fundamental lie of the enemy of your soul is that obedience to God can never bring happiness. It is just the opposite! Sin will leave you empty, dry and in a mess. The secret to happiness is found in doing God's will. That is how He wired us. And anything else is pure frustration, then disaster. "Man's chief end is to glorify God and to enjoy him forever."
