For the third time, Jesus with more details prepares His disciples for what is waiting in Jerusalem. Once again, the disciples didn’t get it. Instead James and John requested the first and second place under Christ in His coming kingdom. This created some division among the disciples, but Jesus brought them together and explained greatness in in God’s eyes—being a servant of all. He spoke this by sharing His own example of coming into the world not to be served or ministered to, but to serve and give His life a ransom for many. The Lord desired that His disciples have eyes wide open. He wants them to be able to see. As we consider blind Bartimaeus, the title will be “Eyes Wide Open.” We will consider the following 1) The Inability to See 2) The Cry for Mercy 3) The Miracle of Sight (Physical and Spiritual).
