INTRO: One of the things that often troubles us as believers, and discourages us from prayer is the matter of unanswered prayer. It is some years ago now I was talking to one of my sons-in-law and he asked about prayers that were not answered. I wanted to speak on that, but at that time I felt led to speak of another matter. Today I want to speak about that.
It was about at that time that I was deeply challenged when I read The Voice of The Martyrs newsletter. That newsletter carried an article from the writings of Richard Wurmbrand, with whom many of you will be familiar. He and his wife, Sabina, suffered much under communism in Romania. The title of this article is “The Enigma of Unanswered Prayer.” An enigma is something obscure or puzzling. Something one cannot figure out. One of the things we cannot figure out is why some prayers go unanswered.
