Brothers and Sisters in Jesus Christ: The strong believer was told to receive the weak believer and help him bear his burdens. Who was the strong? The strong was the Gentile convert who knew he had freedom from the ceremonies and traditions of the Old Testament. The weak was the Jewish convert who did no know the ceremonies were fulfilled in Christ and abrogated, so he still wanted to keep them.
Now after telling the strong, the Gentile believers, to support the weak, the Jewish believers, the Apostle Paul then asked both the Jews and Gentiles to respect and support each other. They needed mutual respect and support for each other to be effective for Christ's kingdom. Hear about this today.
Our headings are: 1. Christ received the Jews so Gentiles had to receive them 2.Christ received the Gentiles so Jews had to receive them
Our goals are: That you will continue to carry the burdens of each other, especially of the weak, as you press forward to win the world for Jesus Christ and raise praise to his name.
