The Book of the Revelation IS NOT meant to be a linear unfolding of what will happen from the first coming of Christ to the second coming of Christ, waiting for profoundly imaginative minds to engage the text and come up with things like, “Ah, here is Napolean,†and “Here are the Napoleanic wars,†and “Here is Russia,†and “Here are airplanes with guns in their tails,†and all this other nonsense. That is not the purpose of the Book of Revelation.
Tons of paper and oceans of printers’ ink have been wasted, and time has exposed the fruitless and confusing result of that kind of an approach to the Book of the Revelation.

One question: what things is he referring to when he says regarding verse 1:
"things that will come to pass in principle, with the people of God in the end of the first Century"

“ The true interpretation of Revelation ” Thank you Pastor Martin for this true interpretation of Revelation. This is what the pastors of my church and many other Reformed churches preach. Thank you for mentioning the books by Vern Poythress, William Hendricksen and Dennis Johnson.
