False teachers serve the devil well as he sends them into the church under the guise of being believers while inwardly serving self and their master the devil. Their motives, their conduct, their handling of God's word will all be revealed over time. The danger is the following of those in the church who listen and are led away from truth into the quagmire of lies and false promises. Their will be repercussions for the individuals and the church corporately increasingly as they are tolerated rather than called out and exposed for who they are. Calling them to repentance instead of giving them a platform to promote their lies is the necessary response needed by the church. Toleration only furthers the deceptions and allows the schemes of the devil a measure of success for which the church will suffer and be responsible for.
