Our Psalm of the morning (Psalm 128) celebrates the blessing of the Lord on the covenant households. The New Testament reading, Colossians 3:18-4:1 gives more order and structure to that same household. In it Paul writes to new believers outlining several ways, in different relationships, that we can glorify God is this earthly life that we will not be able to do in heaven. The Word of the Lord to us here teaches us to inject heavenliness into the earthly relationships Paul describes, that of husband and wife, parent and child, as well as slave and master.
