Christians have been called to function in a community of love. Therefore every Christian receives God's love and has one sing job to do: love. This helps us to summarise our primary drive in the face of all Christians responsibilities. Remember Paul's argument in 1 Corinthians 13? What does love look like? It means not being bitter. Not overreacting. Not taking offense at small slights. Encouraging people who don't encourage you. Being tender hearted. Not being self-centred. It means being willing to allow other people to bother you. It means sacrificing for other people without expecting anything back. Imagine a church who truly loved. Not one person comes from the womb as a loving person. Yet we inherently think we are far better than we actually are. The opposite can also be true: we can become overwhelmed with our own sin and still struggle to love other people. People who appreciate God's forgiveness are able to love other people. God's love is astounding. it way surpasses the love of even the most loving parent. We don't grow in love without looking at God's astounding love. We don't grow in love by maintaining the attitude that God owes us love. If love is so important to God, how are we going to learn it? Know that only Christians can love in this way. Don't make excuses. Make love a priority. Ask for help. Fill your mind with truth. Do something loving right now.
