Introduction: Faith demands "following instructions" by implicit trust.
Thesis/Summary: By faith, Moses obeyed God's revelation regarding the Passover lamb in which we see five redemptive images.
Best commentary for this text of Hebrews 11:28 is Exodus 11 & 12.
Five Redemptive Images:
1. MOSES' REPRESENTATIVE OBEDIENCE. As Adam was federal human head, Moses was Israel redeeming head - both of which were fulfilled perfectly in Christ.
2. SPRINKLING OF BLOOD Blood imagery represented payment, sacrifice, substitution, oath seal, etc.
3. ENTIRELY EATEN LAMB Lamb was perfect sacrifice which must be partaken of to receive pardon. In imaging Christ, we are reminded that we must take/accept all of what Jesus did, who he is.
4. JUDGMENT WOULD PASS-OVER BLOOD PROTECTED HOUSE Sin is always in existence - needs to be passed over to avoid judgment.
5. REDEEMER AND EXECUTOR ARE ONE AND SAME Same God who saved (passed-over) those who were blood-covered is same God who executed severe punishment and destroyed those who were not.
CONCLUSION: - Obedience keeps you from harm's way - Obedience of faith is intrisic to the Gospel - Obedient are spared by God - Obedience is hallmark of discipleship - only objective mark of true Christian
